I believe it is a perennial and every little root piece will grow back the next year. It's apparently invasive and hard to dig up, but that's what I want.

I have lots of confrey and it is invasive, but I have it in a out of the way place. if you want I can send you some roots in the spring, it will be no problem to send it in a flat envelope, I use it as a face mask it works great for wrinkles. send me an email if you still want it.

My Apologies . Sorry everyone , it wasnt comfrey I was thinking of as an annual.It was another plant .

Wildflower--how do you use it as a face mask?? My wrinkles would love to know!! :)
I have some in the front yard and some in the back by the composter--I cut it right down a few times in the summer to put in in the composter to help it along. I do like to let it flower though. It is so pretty

Comfrey has a chemical called allantoin it is a skin healer, and it also has a great deal of mucilage. The best time to use it is in the spring before it sprouts, use the roots, peal and crush them, and use them as an infusion, 1 oz of root to a quart of water and boil, let it sit until cool, add some of the water to any facial mask, The leaves also could be used when very young.Comfrey helps with cell regeneration.
