Wow, that's one spectacular light show. We see them sometimes as well but never that bright. That new camera (and photographer) are capturing some great shots.

You mentioned that you were playing around with your new camera. What setting did you have your camera set at when you took these pictures?

Could you hear them? I remember dh's cousin mentioning that when he had been working in a mine somewhere far up north, that they could keep you up at night because the crackling sounds were so loud. Very cool!

Hmmm, I know my dad always says that there'll be some kind of change in the weather when the northern lights are bright.......just can't remember if it's a good weather change or a bad one?!!

Brenda I had it set at ISO 1600 with a 15-30 second exposure. I was playing around with the exposure time and the aperature value so I'll have to check the info on each individual photo to know what was what.

Laurie I couldn't hear them, but the pictures didn't capture the colors as well as I would have liked. They were swilrling and dancing with bands of reddish and white but for the most part that is the color they were.

Funny because it was really grey and drizzly all day yesterday, it rained some but then it cleared off by dark and this is what was revealed. Just so you know its grey drizzly and 9* again...blech... I have to go out and finish framing my deck (pictures to follow!)

Oooh ahhh that's way better than fireworks if you ask me. Love the curly one in the middle. I'm having a Neil Young moment... "Aurora Borealis, the icy sky at night" But I guess it's not icy yet. LOL.

I heard them hiss once, the sky was full of them and they were moving really fast, it was so cool.

Poor Echoes, I would have thought you were far enough north but I guess not. :(

I've only seen them once where they were that vivid - it just about knocked me on to my knees when i saw them! Great pictures, Michele!
