Has anyone tried growing this plant? On the north side of my gazebo the grass has become pretty sparse in the past few years (not enough sun) so I was thinking of creating a shade flower bed and planting something big, bold and shade loving.
It's a low spot, so remains moist longer than other areas, though still subject to drying out. How much water does this plant need? One site I researched suggested that though they do like moisture, boggy conditions might be too much for them to handle.
Most websites say hardy to zone 3, some zone 4.
Just curious as I saw this plant in the Dominion seed catalogue.
They also list one called Petasites - Japonicus Giganteus that looks similar (but bigger) but the catalogue states that it's hardy to zone 4. Normally that might be worth a "zone pushing" gamble but I researched that one on the internet as well and most sources say it's zone 5 or even 6, so maybe their zone 4 is a stretch?
Regards and Thanks,
Glen
