You didn't indicate how tall it is or how think the branches are. There are several options. One is to simply choose the limb you want to serve as the trunk and cut the other two off. Another option, if the split is close to the ground, is to stool layer the tree. After it roots, cut the three limbs off and you'll have three trees instead of one (plus the base of your original tree which will surely put off more shoots unless you dig it up). If the split is not close to the ground, you could choose the limb you want to serve as the trunk and air-layer the other two limbs... again ending up with three trees.

If you ended up with more trees than you want and the fruit is good, you could send one of the extras to your favorite, fellow fig grower in Houston. LOL.

My nephew has a multi-stemmed Black Jack that I started the process of stool-layering to remove some of the extra stems. Here are some pictures:

Start- This is what the tree looked like when I pulled away the straw he used as mulch

You can see that some of the limbs had started to root where the straw was

I bundled the tree up (so it would be easy to protect from freeze and built an 8" mound of mulch around the tree for the stems to root into

In a few weeks when I go back, I'll remove the mulch, cut the stems below the roots that have grown and pot-up.. well that is assuming that my nephew has taken care of it since I left.
