There were a few times I got busy with other things and my alternantha had dried out to the point of starting to droop. I also cut it back hard because it was getting to tall. Do you think that these things forced the flowers? Everything I read about it said it like it hot and on the dry side. Perhaps you kept it to wet? Marg

Marg, I knew I'd seen those flowers before, so I checked at school. I'm right - they look just like the clover in "Horton Hears a Who", only they are white instead of pink! ;) I wonder if Dr. Seuss had any alternanthera plants?

Are you a teacher? Maybe you should get a plant and take it to school. You can tell the kids its a Dr. Seuss plant! I think the kids will love it. Marg

No, my alternanthera wasn't too wet, though i had to water it often because it sucked it up really fast and started to droop. This time it just dried right up. I'm thinking it was something in the soil, but i haven't looked yet. I have to find my rooting hormone and take cuttings of the Creeping Jenny that's in there with the alternanthera and then i'll uproot it and investigate further.
