Air Layering

Some time ago there was a discussion of the way to split ziploc bags for air layering.

I have another suggestion; My newspaper boy delivers my paper in a cylindrical bag a bout 4 inches in diameter and sixteen or so inches long. It can be stretched a bit and is water tight.

Last summer I cut the closed end off one of these, threaded it over a growing limb, stuffed it full of sphagnum moss, tied off the ends and very quickly had a rooted air layer.

I suggest that you save your newspaper wrappers. If you want larger ones use those that come with the Sunday paper.
