I don't actually grow this one but my research says it is hardy zones 3 to 9. I don't know anyone who has successfully grown it and since I know it originates in the south eastern US, I wouldn't count on it. Then again, I was sure iris reticulata wasn't hardy here and my girlfriend in Winnipeg tells me it is reliably hardy for her there. So, guess who's getting a clump this spring??? Hmmm..... :)

Thanks BJ, I go on many garden tours around here and I've never seen any gardeners growing this one, nor have I seen it for sale in any of the nurseries around my neck of the woods.
I'm just curious to see if it will survive since our winters have been so mild and since Fraser's Thimble Farms rates it a zone 4 plant and at $3.50 a pot, what the heck.

Easily USDA zone 4a hardy, as I grow several cultivars here, and even when we actually had 4a winters. And I think that would translate to Canadian zone 3b? Then there is the extremely closely related Iris lacustris along Lake Superior. That would also be USDA zone 4a, but they grow in unprotected areas, so my guess is you have a good chance.
