Can the cat submit his findings?

He's on the lookout by the front window a lot more often than I am, LOL !

We have one in Edmonton too I think a couple of times a year. I couldn't begin to count the birds around here although I do make a report of the not so common ones like the Northern Flicker and the woodpeckers. A few summers back we had a Kestral visit the yard. That was an awesome sight!

Windy and snowy today so the feeders were busy but I have noticed that the chickadees are scarce all of a sudden.Hmmmm.....

Ginny, the GBBC is for all of North America, conducted by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. It's a way of seeing what birds are where in North America during one weekend in the year.

It's been a good birding winter in my neighborhood although once again I'm out of luck on sighting a snowy owl. I briefly saw one in November, I've been out twice this weekend searching but no luck. On the other hand, I was able to report house finches and dark eyed juncos for this weekend, generally not birds we see in February. The usual at the feeding station: nuthatches, hairy and downy woodpeckers, blue jays, pine grosbeak, redpolls, and chickadees. Out in the country we saw many, many magpies and ravens.

There's still one day left (Monday) for anyone who would like to participate.

Pudge, there's a wild bird store here that takes the reports and I get a news letter every month. They send in the reports to GBBC I think. We have lots of purple and house finches this year and lots of d e juncos. The juncos are always around here but this year I started putting out finch mix and niger in the flat feeder so the finches are hanging around a lot. We have so many maggies and blue jays that they sometimes scare the shy little birds away. And, of course, our monster squirrel! Lol!
