Tub/water

How is the water kept in the tub? Was this before a curtain rod was put up? Some kind of doors installed? I ask because I'm making my focal wall in the tub alcove, out of Italian tile. I'm dreading having to hide it. Curious for alternate ways to keep water off the floor. Thanks for any help

    I have, I'm on the fence about it. I'm European and the tub panel/half wall is a popular choice. It's just hard to come by in America; especially in a variety. I've only found about 3 styles. Anything else, I'd have to special order I suppose.
