Any thoughts? These are all supposed to be easy to germinate. It took me two days to go through all the perennials!

I would wait to order the Actaea Baneberry late summer/ early fall, these benefit from a warm, cold, warm cycle.
Sow at 18-22ºC (64-71ºF) for 2-4 wks, move to -4 to +4ºC (24-39ºF) for 4-6 wks, move to 5-12ºC (41-53ºF) for germination.

Oops, I see now that you were referring to Barberry, not Baneberry seeds.

I've never sowed Berberis Barberry before ;)
Here's what Tom's site suggests...

Berberis candidula , Paleleaf barberry ,zone= 5 , wash seed 3x daily 7d, sow directly outdoors
Berberis julianae , Wintergreen Berberis ,zone= 5 , wash seed 3x daily 7d, sow directly outdoors
Berberis koreana , Korean barberry ,zone= 3 , sow 3m @ 39ºF, move to 70ºF for germ.
Berberis thunbergii , Japanese Berberis ,zone= 4 , sow directly outdoors

Gil, i have Lychnis coronaria, if you're interested in them. I just send the last of the chalcedonica to the new Rick.

I WSed some soapwort a couple of years ago and it did great. Yes, it was the first year i did any winter sowing and that was one of the plants that really took off. I'm not sure if it bloomed the first year - maybe not - but it grew like crazy!

Marcia, thanks but it sounds like Sharon is going to send me some Maltese X. It's the bright red I'm really after. L. coronaria is very pretty tho.

Good to know the soapwort will WS well. This is one of the perennials I ordered many years ago from McFayden that arrived dead as a doornail. I kinda forgot about it until I saw it again at Gardens North. I plan to WS most of the seeds I've got left to come. I already WSed a container of Clematis.

My first one came from McFayden. Remember that picture of it they used to have, with it cascading over a wall, full of pink blooms? THAT'S what i wanted! LOL Never got it, though. The seeds i winter-sowed were saved from the original plant.

I had some Maltese Cross in full sun and it wilted all the time. I moved it to a shadier area and it's fine now. Just FYI. :)

L. coronaria is in the bag too ;)
