I know that sometimes my Datura seeds will do this, so what I do is give them a shot of No-Damp, open the dome 1/2 way so that the oscillating fan can get some air moving and within a few hours the white fuzz is gone. Some seeds naturally do this in order to germinate, if your seeds are germinating, I wouldn't worry, but do give them some air to dry out a bit ;)

These were whole flats. I've removed the covers and some of the mold is disappearing. Hope it works as i don't have any No-Damp and i don't want to do the chamomile tea thing when they're so wet. I thought maybe it was the type of seed-starting mix i was using. As usual, Walmart has been out of the Schultz that i usually buy, so i've been using some from the Co-op. Oh well, if it doesn't matter, it's okay - all that white fuzz really gave me a turn though!

Don't buy cheap seed starting mix ;)

Do they sell bales of Sunshine Mix #4 or Promix around your neck of the woods? Buy that, I've never had a problem with these brands.

The moral of the story... I have some Promix and that's what i'm using now.

Marcia, try sprinkling cinnamon on the soil. I did this when the canna seeds I started got mold on the soil. It worked for me - no more mold! I've also been bottom watering with chamomile tea once in a while. Good luck!

I've been thinking about the cinnamon and i should do that. As i said, i didn't think the flats were overwatered, but they sure got wet and i haven't had to water them again yet, so hence no chamomile tea.
