I know that the variety 'Grandpa Ott' will re-seed in zone 3 reliably. I'm somewhat sceptical that many others will also re-seed well, but hey, give them a try, you don't have anything to lose.

That sounds pretty promising to me! These are the "Star of Yelta" variety. Will give them a shot. Our winter was pretty mild so they've probably got a good chance.

"Milky Way" has re-seeded (heavily, intrusively) for me, and "Flying Saucers" as far as I know has not. Lori do you have a pic of "Star of Yelta"? I have never even heard of it.

Yahoo! After posting the original question here I put did 3 seeds into a coffee filter/baggie just to see what would happen. Well, I just checked just now and guess what? I see little roots growing! Cool! Right on! They survived the -27*C we had just 2 days before I collected these seeds.
