passion for figs

people always ask me "why the passion for figs"? I never really have a answer for them. I think because fig trees are a challange. fig trees have history. I have fig trees (cuttings) that were in my great grandfathers yard. What do you think?

Because good figs taste very tasty. The second good reason is nostalgia if you had the good fortune to have it tasted in your earlier years; and finally because the trees grow easily and are pretty to look at and more so when loaded with figs, green as well as coloured. Retirement adds to this passion and other fig enthusiasts at GW and FIG4FUN enhance it.
I guess everone else has their own specific reasons for passion for growing figs.

Ciao rkc80, Yes the tree has alot of history. Keep those family heirloom figs and grow them. I was so happy to receive some cuttings from my fathers family farm in Italy. They have been in our family for generations. I can remember practically learning how to walk and eating figs from our orchards, they have lots of memories and great ties to our past, Ciao. Maggie
