The only green I have is in the house. It will be a while yet before I see anything outside.

Little bit of browny green where the snow has melted away under the trees. That's it, we've been having a cool spring!

There's green where the woodpile has been depleted, but that's about it. Lots of white. I am really beginning to dislike white. :>

There is still a good 5 or 6 feet of snow covering my yard. But near the house by the walk, the tulip greens have started showing.

No green here yet, still too cold. It was 2F this morning when I woke up, which is what, around -12C? My son is eager for warmer weather to soften up the ice on the lake. He wants to go throw rocks through it, LOL.

My son and I went for a walk in the pasture last Sunday, and there were tiny hints of green on a few wildflowers in sheltered places. I'm seeing hints of green grass in warm spots too. Won't be long now!

We had so much snow this year I still have snow over a foot deep in some parts of my yard and most of the garden, but other areas are snow free. The tulips and daffodils are coming up in the snow-free areas of the yard. I can't wait to take the boxes off of the outdoor palm trees, but until the snow is all gone, I won't even consider it. Global warming does not exist in my area.

Not green but I did see a burgundy Sempervivum poking through by the deck the other day. Of course it s***** yesterday and today so its covered back up.

Last weekend we saw some dandelion leaves that have greened up, some really neat looking low growing plant I should photograph... and some sort of shoots coming up from tubers it looks like near our post office. And of course moss in our yard :-)

Sharon, we can still say "that word" until the end of this month. After that it becomes a swear word until the end of October. :>

With the way things look out there now, i think i'll be doing a lot of swearing for the next few weeks!

My Showy Mountain Ash, Thunderchild Crabapple and Saskatoon bush are now budding out. The Ajuga and Soapwort is also coming out. My various Sedums stay evergreen all winter due to leaf litter from my Swedish Columnar Aspens.

I've never had stuff come out this early. It's amazing.

No green here yet, that's for sure. Still 4-5' of snow in my yard and all around my house. I have to say, I'm pretty discouraged, since they're calling for below-normal temps for at least the next two weeks, so probably not much melting will be happening ( and even more s--- in the long term forecast!!!). I have 13 roses coming the 15th of April and I'm a bit nervous about the ones to go in the ground. At least I have several large pots ready and waiting if need be.
What I wouldn't give now for a glimpse of a crocus or two....

I managed to get outside and do some spring clean up on the weekend and found a new little hollyhock up on my south wall that has a couple of 3" leaves already. :o) The s*** is almost completely melted here...just a few patches in the shady areas. DH took Brayden out on the quad on Sunday and came home with pussywillows and poplar 'flowers'. He also saw the first robin of the year. :o)

I was poking around today to see if I could see the start of any tulips or daffs - but no luck. I did however find one nice red part of my rhubarb starting to poke up. What do you call that anyways? Eyes like hostas?

I was- it'll probably be brown after I dig out of the blizzard. I have so much white junk stuck to my windows I can't tell how deep it's getting. GRRR!!

Can anyone tell I'm frustrated? Just yesterday I was out doing spring clean up and grinning at my 2 inch tulip, daffodil, and iris leaves and bachelor button, cosmos, delph, garden phlox, sweet william, and black eye susan etc sprouts. March out like a lamb, my achin.....

Yup, I've noticed green a few days ago. My tulips are peeking up and the spurge is amazingly far along already... and I saw some other growth too that looked like either columbines or iceland poppies... its still very tiny so time will tell. I sure hope that s*** stays away from our forecast... but either way there are some pretty low temps in the forecast too...

I guess the -30s and the windchills at the beginning of March didn't count as being lion-like. We're supposed to get about 10 cms of snow tonight and tomorrow. Let's hope for a better April!

Other than that, i did see green today. The snow has melted away from the east side of the porch enough that some hollyhock foliage is showing green. At least i think it's hollyhocks - as usual, i have no recollection of planting a hollyhock at the particular spot. LOL Typical me! :)

As I have been reading these posts I have been thinking, when is my stuff going to green up? I did mulch quite heavily with shredded bark last year, and that seems to have kept the ground a little cooler this year. I finally have something besides rhubarb! I found a little patch of tulips, one geranium rozanne, both brunette bugbanes, and a few patches of daylilies are greening up. I was very excited when I scratched the bark of some of my tender shrubs that I have been winter protecting! My endless summer hydrangea, annabelle hydrangea, and northern light azalea are all alive as well. Time will tell if my azalea buds have made it through though.

Now I feel like spring! The long range forcast actually showed 20 degress for Sunday, so I will keep my fingers crossed!

Finally some green here, though it's hard to wade through the s*** to see it! At the moment it's mostly tulips poking up (so i should say red and yellow, not green), but in one bed some of last year's overwintering WS plants are nice and green. There's green poppy foliage that i can see too, and a bit of rudbeckia. It's all good! :)

Some green here too. Tulips are coming up and Daffs which do great but never bloom. Weeds are growing of course but I heard that S--- word for tonite. Yesterday they said thundershowers and today it's NOT!!But there is a tiny lite at the end of that long cold tunnel. Up to +16 and more for the week end. Yipee!!

As long as the forcast is wrong for tomorrow we should continue to green-up here. They were (so far) wrong about that t-storm so maybe they are wrong about more S*** too! On a greener note, I noticed that the monarda is looking very bright and green already and definately confirmed that the columbines are starting... oh yes, ofcourse the weeds would be up and going full force already!

My columbines are up too, as well as the ever present coral bells putting on new growth. I'm pleased that the new coral bells I started last year with the curly leaves (Emperor's Cloak?) are looking good. Obedient plants and some of my new irises still have green leaves. It's good to see green finally!!

I have crocus blooming.....right beside a 4 foot snowbank. And tulip leaves are comming up through the edges of the snow. This weekend is supposed to be nice...lets hope the sun takes some of this snow away.

I can see heuchera and brunnera leaves at the back of the house but unfortunately i can't get to them because there's still way too much s***. :(

Snow melted like crazy the last couple of days - the rain this morning helped even more - so I'm finally getting to see more of the flower beds. I'm happy to see the Raspberry and Strawberry Parfait dianthus wintered - I left them last fall to see how they'd fair and looks like that was a good idea after all. New growth showing on Lady's Mantle and Helenium hoopesii, too.

Oh gosh. A few days ago my south flowerbed was still covered in snow. Then it poured the other day. Now I am seeing green.
My annual dianthus have pretty much all survived the winter.
My irises are green in this bed. And I see green on most of my dayliles. The geraniums are sprouting, and so are the tulips.
Plus my roses are putting out leaf buds.
Wow, what a difference a few days makes.
The rest of the yard is still mostly under snow. But with the forecast for the next couple days...I should see a big difference.

I've got 2 Goldfinch Columbines a good 1" up, many daffodils and a handfull of poppies.

There's just one hunk of ice left on my south bed. Crocuses, daffodils and tulips are up there, and there's green hollyhock leaves, poppy leaves and some rudbeckia in there. In the holding bed, i see that Henry, Jr. has made it through, as well as a couple of last year's WS plants. It's supposed to be mild for the next several days, so maybe i'll be able to get around to the back to see what's coming there. :)

I haven't seen anything I would call exactly 'green' yet, oh, except I did see a dandelion blooming yesterday, it had green leaves... I also saw a butterfly (looked like a very confused painted lady but I couldn't be sure) and I also saw a bee of some sort. Spring is definitely teasing us here! I'm making a trip to the west coast next weekend to see some green and give me hope. :)

I see the delphs are up a couple inches..the columines are putting on new growth, the same as the leopard's bane..a lot of tulips and crocus have their noses up. Buttttt..Saturday and Sunday has some cold northeast air coming so everything better stay huddled until its over...savona

Well yes I did see a bit of green but this afternoon we've had quite a few snow showers and cold cold wind. Not too promising for the rest of the week. In fact worse. The poor robins do not look too cheerful.

I'm seeing yellow too - my Yellow Mammoth crocuses will bloom very soon! :)
