wanted: plant trade sw florida

Hello everyone

I would like to host a plant trade in Sarasota Florida. I had one a few years back and I had a blast. I have moved since the trade I hosted and when I moved I brought my plants and have aquired a lot since. I would love to share. When would be a good time for everyone?

Sounds like fun Desiree. How've you been? How's Storm doing. I'm in North Port now not in Osprey anymore but would love to come. Suggest some dates , that should narrow it down better, easier to say what's a good time or not. Take care. Judy

When do you plan on having it? Haven't been on here in a while cause life threw us some curve balls, but we are back on track again.

    Hello Judy!

Storm is now 13, skinny as a rail and is 6'3".

I remember from past trades everyone has various schedules. I'm pretty much available all the time. It might be better if everyone starts suggesting dates and let's see what date the majority picks.

You didn't say how soon you're talking about so I'll just say when I'm NOT available to make it easier...but count me in as I am in Sarasota too. Not available the weekend of April 22/23; other than that any weekend is good for me. Thanks for hosting something close by!

    Hello Junglegina!

Glad to meet a fellow plant nut in Sarasota. LIke I have said I am open for the trade anytime.
What does everyone think about May? That leaves time to get some cuttings going, etc.

As far as what I have for trading...Heliconias, gingers, various types of bamboo, Black timber, olhamii, Blue...I'll get back with all the names, about 500 rain lilies, unusual bromeliads, brugs, the new variegated dwarf oysters, let's just say I use to work at a nursery so I really do have a little bit of everything.

Tell me what everyone thinks about a May? Specific dates?

May sounds good to me. When you get a date I will ask for that day off from work.

Will let you know when the date gets closer what plants we have that we will bring.

May sounds good to me...any weekend. What nursery did you work for? Sounds like a cool way to feed your addiction!

    Hi,

Thanks for offering. I would love to attend and meet some GWers. :) Most anytime is good for me unless something unavoidable comes up.

Hmmm... I need to start some cuttings :)

The one off of Clark Road Junglegina.

I have a question for everyone before I set the date in May. When are all the spring plant fairs and plant sales. I don't want pick a weekend when something huge is happening somewhere else.

    Desiree,

Good to hear from you again. I would like to come, but my chance of actually making it are slim, so do not plan around me. I know the weekend of the 6th and 7th we are going to move my son back from college for the summer. The 14th is Mothers Day, and we may be in the Keys. The 28th is Memorial Day Weekend. Looks like the 20th and 21st are the best chance for me.

I think I'm open for anytime in May. I don't know of any other plant festivals in May, Tropiflora is this weekend, Mounts is the end of April, Greenfest in Tampa was last weekend. Not sure if Selby's having one. Judy

    Hello everyone!

Let's set the date for Sunday, May 21. The start time will be 12 noon so people that go to church can still attend.

I will start adding what I have this weekend to trade on my page.

I just learned that's the same weekend as the Redlands Orchid Show in Homestead. I have really been looking forward to it. Sorry, I won't be able to do both.

I've been a Garden Web member for years, but we just moved to the SW Gulf Coast (Port Charlotte - South Gulf Cove) into a new home the first of the year, after living in Central Florida. I would love to attend your 'Trade' day, sounds like fun. I brought a few plants with me, but my gardens are new and a little sparce. How many plants are required for the trade day?
Sounds like a great way to meet other gardeners as well.

Rosemary, Very nice mosaic work! This is a great way to get plants for your new garden. You could always bring some mosaic pieces to trade; they like handmade creations too. Also, not much of my stuff is named so some of the collectors may not be interested in it, but it may be something you want to get you off to a good start in your new yard. Please join us!

    Hello Rosemary!

There are no minimum plant requirements. Your work is beautiful. I look forward to meeting you.
