WANTED: Phlox

In the 1950's About 20 miles East of Tampa Bay our elementary school playground was covered in what we were told was "Phlox". Multicolored blooms on single stems about 6" high. Looks like either Phlox or Viola in Burpees. The playground was mowed weekly - blooms returned weekly. (very rapid re-bloom)

I now live on a barrier island on the east coast, have a large yard, would like to seed with whatever that was - is it salt and wind hardy? Is it even "Phlox"? Don't know what seeds to order
