Ok, first let me say, I'm a total newbie so I'm sure my question is embarrassingly simple... :) I did want to assure every I have searched the topic and found so many conflicting opinions and advice and I'm just running out of time to continue researching so I was hoping a night owl may be watching that would answer me quickly. I received the most absolutely healthy and beautiful bare root fans today (somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 including gifts.) I had timed the shipment to arrive on a non work day so I could plant them immediately, but I was called to work unexpectedly today and tomorrow. So, long story short, I won't be able to plant them until tomorrow evening. I put the roots in a small amount of water (crown is not in water) about 2 hours ago and placed them in a cool shady space. Should I leave them in that water until I return from work tomorrow to plant or do I need to take them out of the water? Thanks for any responses!
