Of course, I had to take a look at it. I have 5 colors of lilac. I think this would be a nice addition.

Ruth, do you have a yellow one? I bought two little ones several years ago but they still haven't bloomed for me yet. Hoping for this summer.

A rebloomer would be fantastic! I wonder if it's as scented as regular lilacs are. Sometimes when i drive down the main drag here in June, the scent of lilacs follows me from one end to the next!

I don't have a yellow one. I'll have to come up and see yours if it blooms this year. I have white, pink, light purple, dark purple and a really pretty blue.
I was wondering about the scent on the rebloomer also.

When mine are in bloom, one small branch can scent my entire house. Here mine bloom in mid-May. Then I come up by you and get to smell them again. I love spring.

My daughter bought a house on the main street and she's so happy that she has lilacs growing there already. :)

I'll let you know if the yellow ones bloom this year. I have a white one that took several years before it bloomed again. Someone advised me to prune it as if it had bloomed, but i didn't have a chance to test that theory. I will with the yellow ones.

I seen them in the GardenImport catalogue this year, however I'm not sure if I can dish out $25 for a mail-ordered shrub. I'll wait to see if my local greenhouses will carry them first.

I purchased a lilac from Garden Import several years ago. It was very teeny. It came in a four inch pot. I haven't had blooms on Beauty of Moscow yet.
I did plant several bushes of Josee a number of years ago. They didn't make the winter. Josee is the parent of Boomerang.

I ordered bloomerang yesterday from Garden Imports.... first time ordering from them. We'll see how it grows!

So I've found another couple:

Syringa meyeri 'Palibin'
Syringa meyeri 'Josee' (improved version of above)

You may have better luck finding these two, as even one of the local nurseries here stocks 'Josee'.

Dominion seed house offers 'Josee' in their catalogue but they probably don't have it in stock. The reason I say that is that I ordered the plant a couple of times but each time got a credit note that said "not available". Finally, about two years ago, I actually got one from them. Just a 4 inch pot and tiny. But, just like Shelley's experience, mine died the first winter. That one really threw me as I thought lilacs were indestructible.

Interesting though, yesterday I got a offer in the mail from Spring Garden. The brochure they sent was about 'Josee' but it said they were taking orders and "will be shipped in fall". I usually don't order from them but ordered a lemon and orange tree this spring, so I guess I'm on their mailing list.

Maybe the reblooming lilacs are becoming a more common item so that it might be found at more local nurseries.

By yellow lilacs do you mean Primrose? I have had one for quite a few years and the only thing yellow about it is the flower buds. Once they open it's hard to tell them apart from the white ones. Also it suckers like crazy. I'm trying to get rid of it.

I think that's what they are. So far they haven't even bloomed, let alone suckered. Guess i'll see - won't be the first time i've planted something that i wanted to get rid of after!

Try Select Plus Lilacs in Quebec...they have about 5 different reblooming lilacs....as well as a gazillian other lilacs.He is supposed to have the largest collection of different cultivars in North America.I have ordered from him in the past and have been pleased with the results.Regarding Primrose...I have one as well and it also has only the very faintest indication of yellow .Somewhere on the Select Plus website in the past there was a comment on Primrose... apparently there is another variation that leans more toward the yellow.....just not far enough for me.My shrub came from Gardenimport about 18 years ago as a minescule little twig and is now quite a sizeable bush........with pale cream flowers. Ahhh, the power of advertisements.

If anyone loves Pink Lilacs probably the best you can get is Maidens Blush. It has the largest very scented flower clusters of any pink lilac you will ever see. I got it bare root from somewhere in Quebec as well about 15 yrs ago and it bloomed the first year and every year since. Check it out on the Web. You will love it.

I think i have seen a lilac that is purple AND pink at once. Is there such a thing, or was it just both color lilacs braided together?

I would like to find one with multi-colour blooms if it has been created yet.

Lilac colours are not definitive. Depending on soil conditions, light, temperature (and I'm sure other things) blooms can be different colours.

'Sensation' has white and purple blooms.
