Er...um, I am not up on the loopholes in U.S. laws, but pot is an annual, and grows as such even the the north. There is no need to overwinter it inside.

It shouldn't be illegal to grow THC-free hemp, it's occasionally grown as a crop around here for fibers, oil, etc. Honestly if I were you I would check with your local police if they would have a problem with you growing it, because they are the ones who would be knocking on your door if they saw it in your back yard.

Another point is that most hemp products take a certain amount of processing (fibers, oil, even seeds are "popped" before you would want to eat them), so unless you know what you have planned for the hemp you might be wasting your time growing it.

And you might get kids stealing it too.

There is a Hemp farm around here, I believe its grown as an annual. The field is displayed as a maze and they invite folks to tour it.

hemp is an annual, I checked into growing it, in Canada the government wants about 4000 permits, a lawyer, an accountant and your firstborn child. It is ridiculous. They also reserve the right to test your plants for THC content whenever they want at your expense (approx $500)
You might as well just grow weed. It's much simpler - no paperwork (unless you get caught)and more profitable ; )

I don't grow it, smoke it or toke it ... BUT, I love hemp seed/hemp hearts, very nutritious and tasty!
