What an interesting day I had...our administrator was desperately trying to find someone at 6am this morning to drive to Vermilion Hosp to pick up some equipment for tomorrows surgery (ours had broken down). She came up to me and asked if I would go and pick it up. I said sure, as long as I still got paid for my day and of course, that was no problem and also would pay for my mileage.
So with only having to be at work for an hour, I picked up my mom to go along for the 1 1/2hr drive.
We decided to take the "scenic" route through Lloydminster on the way home (a 1/2hr out of our way:) and stopped at Wickhams Nursery.
What luck!! They were unpacking their first shipment of hardy roses and priced at 2 for $19.95
They were almost all in bloom and just wonderful.
They were from the same supplier as last years, and I had bought Emily Carr (which has 3ft of green cane this spring), Morden Sunrise (18" at least of green cane) and 2 Morden Blushes (about 15" of green cane) They were like roses on steroids and bloomed their fool heads off all summer right up to hard frosts, so eagerly bought 4 more today. John Davis, Morden Belle, Felix Leclerc and Winnipeg Parks.
I was paid way more in mileage than what it cost me to go, so in the end, I got a lovely WARM sunny day to go for a drive and came home with free roses....doesn't get any better than that! LOLS
