Oh Yes . It's all about getting the garden ready . I cleaned a lot of brush as well by the side of the house. Rotten stumps etc to make sure no wasps can move in.And I heard the frogs for the first time. That is such a welcome sound.Also came across Lady bugs as well.

I don't see a lot of ladybugs for some reason or another - wish i did!

I've also been doing a lot of garden clean-up, raking the leaf mulch off, pruning dead tips from the rose bushes, watering some dry areas. My granddaughter cleaned out my pond with a net - again and again and again! And she even fell in for good measure. :) We also planted some recently obtained lily bulbs, just in pots for now.

No frogs here yet, but hopefully soon.

Our ladybugs come and go. Sometimes there are very few around. But 3 years ago in the fall, one day the entire north wall of my 2-storey house was blanketed in ladybugs. It was actually kind of gross. A lot of them got in the house and some got squashed in the back door and stuff, it was very weird. We have never had that many since. I think they were looking to hibernate.

I have at least one or two ladybugs laying in each of the leafy remains of my perennials. I can't tell if they are dead or hibernating of what. I'm happy to see them anyway.

I've got all the dead foliage cleaned up now, my tulips are all 3-4 inches tall, and I see my martagon lilies poking their heads up, as well as most of the perennials having little leaves coming up. I have confirmed loss: my Berlin Tiger iris. I had my suspicions because it had no signs of green leaves, so I dug down to the rhizome, and sure enough it was all soft and rotten. Other than that, things look good so far. My garden seems to be off to a better start this year than last!

I'm just dreading the return of the mosquitoes.

Ladybugs might go in cycles?
This year I have seen hundreds in the nursery and are breeding!
One thing I observed, wherever there is lots of old fall leaf around the
Ladybugs are more in numbers, it seems it's good, not to clean up your
leaf in fall.

Weeper, mosquitoes are out here. I started getting bit when i was in a shady area yesterday. They're mutant ninja ones - biiiiiiiiig suckers!

Heard some frogs this evening! :)
