I'm sorry to have to ask this question - I know that I read the answer earlier but I cannot find the thread so will have to ask it anyway... How do you prune roses. My 4 roses have emerged from the snow bank with varying success. Prairie Joy is covered in green leaves and little buds are showing up - she came out full of green. Lambert Closse has lots of green leaves but has 1 or 2 branches that "top off" with dead looking stems and leaves. JP Connell is looking kind of spindly [I heard that the first year after planting this is normal] with 1 or 2 dead looking branches but my concern is mostly for my mystery rose that we figured was possibly a Quadra or Winnipeg Parks... It has mostly big thick dead looking branches with some green shoots coming from the bottom. Should I prune everything "dead" off of the 3 healthy roses? Should I cut back almost everything on the mystery rose? Also should I try to give them all some fertilizer immediately to promote this seasons growth?
