For light colored fig, someone said "Dessert King" is a good fig to grow in Canadian weather. It has early brebas.

For dark fig "Hardy Chicago" is good because if there is a
dieback, it will grow back from the roots!

I too ordered from Burgmansia Quebec. White Genoa small rooted fig it was in excellent condition when it arrived to Penticton BC. It grew 2 fit tall and I can see that I will have a few White Genoa figs to taste these year, YAM. I made small plastic house for my fig trees. I also contact Dany by e-mail he answered all questions that I had, I do recommend to order from Dany

Hanicka, you say you made a small plastic house for your fig. Did you plant it outside? Our weather is very similar to Keremeos, so probably yours too and I have a spot along a very sheltered south wall that I'm tempted to try if I can find a very hardy fig.

I grow fig trees in containers, my collection is Brown Turkey, Negronne, White Genoa, Italian Golden Honey, and some unknown those are a few years old trees. Just last month I receive an order off cuttings from Portugal, Black Madeira all had rooted. There is a man that has orchard in Oliver he sells fig trees on Penticton Farmers market, not just yet ! They are in 2 gallon container about 3 to 4 fit tall with 4 to 8 ripening fig on. Most of them are unknown, but I give him some named cuttings so I hope he did not mix it up. You will not find a better deal. I am sure he would by happy to see you in his greenhouse, let me know. You really can learn a lot from him.
