Dogs tooth violet question

I have a dog tooth violet and it comes up beautiful every spring but I only ever get 1-2 flowers usually buried in the leaves. I use miracle grow granules on the bed, every thing else is doing well. Any ideas on why I don't get blooms from it. It is 3 years old now. Thanks

I can think of a few possibile things. They may or may not be your problem. Is it planted in the shade? Violets like shade and cooler temperatures. Is it planted too deep? They flower best if not planted too deep

It is shaded except from 10-12, the soil stay cool as it is beside the pond spillway. The mulch may be a bit deep as the heavy rain tends to wash it down a bit, I will try pulling it away a bit.
