New Figs on tree

I have 2 fig trees that stay in my garage all winter uncovered. Just last week I noticed that they both have about a dozen or so very small figs starting to grow along with new leaves. This happenes every year and ever year they grow to a decent size, then dry out, then fall off. This year I was thinking of cutting below the branch so when I do move it outside it can start with no figs. Does this sound like a good idea???

Why not just knock them off? No need to cut...

zirp27, Do you get another crop of figs that ripen, or is this the only crop you get?

The 2 trees that I am talking about were rooted a few years ago off of a tree that is in the ground. The one in the ground actually does the same thing every year. I have another on in the ground next to it and I got a bunch of good ripe figs off of that last year. It can't be the soil...any other ideas??
