Wow, that looks like it's going to be amazing! Were you trying to breed it or is it just open pollinated? Does it look like it will open or stay bell shaped?

It looks like it might open more. The seed was given to me, so can only guess it was open pollinated. I've never seen any of these type clems around our area, or growing here for that matter, so thank goodness for generous garden friends.

There are probably 5 flowers, and some seem to have more pink/red on them. I'll post more pics once it's fully open.

Here's what it looks like today. I guess you'd call it a semi-double, although it's probably still not fully open yet. I'm very excited to have my first Atragene seedling flower.

Wow, that is super nice! I love the stamens too, very different for a clematis!

Joan, it's so unique and beautiful ... I totally love it at all stages! I hope it will prove to flower all summer as does Joe Zary.

It's certainly not aging gracefully. The flower is going limp and turning brown. I don't see any new stems from the ground yet, and it is only about 2 1/2 to 3 ft high, so not sure if it will bloom again. Would be nice if it does.

Joan - just joined this site only now. Has this seedling improved in its bloom period, etc.? Does it produce any pollen? If so, I'd like some to use in my clem breeding.

Sad to say my plant died. It only survived 2 or 3 years.
