I hear ya Sharon!! between the sunburn from a few days ago and now whiplashed with dust...
but would gladly have that ten fold, to just take back planting out a few of my Dahlia's last night afterwork...oh boy, they look pretty tough right now:(

Well, I did manage to get the greenhouse organized and cleaned, plus I actually dusted and vaccumed inside the house ;)

We've had our share, too, although the past couple or so days has been blessedly calm(er).

On those kinds of days, especially when it's also warmish, the wind's blowing and it's dusty and I'm in the garden, and I'm feeling like an old and weathered beet farmer's wife. It's on those days I always think of those tough prairie women - those who homesteaded the land (like my grandmothers) - and dealt with all that weather had to throw them. At the end of a day like that when you feel parched, and windburned and your eyes are burning. And your hair...fogeddaboudit...and there's dust on every inch of exposed skin (and maybe even the unexposed) - well, it's times like that I can really empathize.

I image those old days too Pudge, it must have been very hard for them back then, but thankfully alot of those old timers and those who have passed away will be forever remembered for hybridizing those tough bullet-proof prairie plants for us today.

I went to Walmart later this evening and I'm just saddened of so many plants that look so pitiful. Pots lying over on their sides, parched and wind whipped and not one single staff taking care of them.

Tomorrow is forecasted for another windy day, but hopefully will get some rain.

absolutely agree Pudge! We don't know what hardship is with what they went through...Over the past 20yrs working in an acute/longterm care facility, I've enjoyed the many stories and alot of gardening advice from many of those old timers:)
