I WS'd this last year and they too are up and can't wait to see how they look like as well...I would leave them for this year and see how they preform, if its too big, then I would wait to move them next fall when its cooler or wait for some rainy weekend. I surely wouldn't try to attempt to move them today in this heat.

Thanks, Sharon. I guess we'll both wait and see. I've moved 2 of them to against the fence but I'm watering them in. I'll leave the other 2 and see how things go. 2 of these might be enough, anyway. The roots look very much like dandelions and I have a funny feeling that they may perform equally as aggressively.

I bought one of these as a little plant at a church yard sale a couple of years ago in the spring and planted it next to my Filipendula. It grew taller than the filipendula (close to 6 feet tall, 4 or more feet wide), and was covered with glorious flowers in mid summer. Then it looked really shabby for 6 or 8 weeks until I cut it to the ground. Last spring I moved all of it down to my wild garden at our lower barn, and it looks perfect there. It's not invasive, just BIG.

The two that I moved, back to the fence, seem to be doing pretty good today. Anyone want two more? LOL Actually, I'm anxious to see them in bloom. They really do look pretty.

I have a knack for planting tall plants at the front, don't I? Hesperis matronalis, Oenothera biennis - maybe now it has sunk into my head. Height, Shauna!!!!! Check the height before you plant!!!!!!!!

When you mentioned 'planting tall plants at the front' I was reminded of one of my junior gardeners who planted a pumpkin plant in the front of the flowerbed. Not much else was visible that summer. It was definitely a learning experience for them.

I really like the inulas, and most of them are big! I haven't found them to be invasive either. Some of the inulas have the most lovely wavy petals, very nice.
* Hope to be on here more, I've been "awol" for quite awhile, the kids and I have had mono.
