Mine is near a downspout and it grows well. They tend to sucker and if you're in or near Calgary, you can have one of my suckers.

My Hansa is several years old now. It's about 4 feet high and maybe 3 feet wide. Very thorny! It bites! There's almost no winterkill on it usually, and the leaves are nice and glossy. It has been bothered by sawfly larva in the past couple of years. One thing about it is that if you don't deadhead, it can look really messy.

I planted one last year in a spot where Cuthburt Grant and another hardy rose (can't remember the name) have died on me. This is my 3rd attempt at getting a rose to overwinter in that spot. I told myself if Hansa won't survive there then I'm planting annuals there. I have 50 roses (many, many are tender) so I know about roses, but this one spot is surrounded on 3 sided by concrete retaining walls and gets pretty cold. Well it survived with canes about 6 inches high (I have some tender roses that are that tall after winter!!!). So Hansa was tough enough for that spot.

After all that blathering, I don't know how it will perform here - so unfortunately can't help you :) Just know that it's tough!

My mother-in-law's Hansa grew to about 5 feet tall. It was quite old (10-20 years?).

Hansa is rock hardy for me!! Even the moose can't kill it.
Another one is Therese Bugnet. A little taller and lighter colored. Another is Prairie Dawn taller yet but with an almost florescent color.

My Hansa roses are very hardy too. I've had them winterkill to 4 inches tall (#@*&! chinook/cold snap cycle) and still come back and bloom beautifully. Mine are about 4-5 feet tall and 5 feet wide, with lots of prickles and big fat red rose hips, when they get enough time to ripen.
