I have a small fig tree in a 12" pot. I had my landscaper plant it for me the other day. While he planted it so that the soil covered an few inches of trunk, he created a small mound for the tree, so the whole thing sits above the level of the native soil. Is this OK, or should the soil directly above the trunk be level with the surrounding soil?
