browning roots

what causes it?i have a bunch of cuttings in pots and cups, one celeste in a water bottle has some browning tips on the roots but is pushing growth.could it be that there being exposed to light or being constanly wet.also the soil mix is almost 80 perlite for the celeste the others are in a 50/50 perlite/soil

the same happened to me when my figs were in transparent cups and containers. it is most likely a reaction from the sun light and uv rays.just do as i did by covering up the side with news paper and something else that will keep the light out. every week i unwrap the cutting to check on the roots, when i did they were loads of white roots everywhere.
