Could it be an allium baby?

Is the leaf thin like a blade of grass? It may be some sort of allium. The ones I have in my yard have a thin blade like leaf...or are the bulbs having a fatter leaf?
Do you have a lily in the area that makes bulblets? They would be tiny and would have a little fatter leaf than an allium.

How far down into the soil was it?

Hint...buy another set of batteries for your camera...rechargeable... so you can always post pictures for all of us to see. I guess if we have to wait until tomorrow, we will.....

Laurie, could be allium. I just did a google search and some of the allium leaves look fairly similar.

Brenda, its definately possible these are lily bulblets. These were growing so close to my "mystery lily" plant, but not quite touching though -- more like 1 inch away from it. These leaves look very different then that "mystery lily" though, unless that how the initial baby plant looks??

My camera doesn't actually take batteries! Go figure. I have a special cable-thingy and I recharge the whole camera. There are days when I wish I could just replace batteries like I did with the old digi-cam. I'll download the pics in a little while (in other words I got sidetracked yesterday and forgot to plug in the camera.... I feel so unorganized these days.....LOL)

That's what i was thinking, Sierra. The little lily scales have produced leaves looking like that in my garden. I think i've even had some miniature blooms on some of them - could have been the second year, though.

Yup lily scales - my white ones produce a lot of these.

Right on! Now I can't wait for the "Momma Plant" to bloom so I can see what I have! LOL
