Not that this will help you much, being as I'm on the Ab/Sk border. But I bought my Emily Carr last spring at Wickhams (in Lloydminster) and they had quite a few in again this spring (my mom bought one)
This rose was extremely healthy, vigorous and bloomed all summer, right up to frost.

I bought another one locally here Gillian. You might have to search a bit for this one though. You probably will not find it in the chain stores.
My last year one looks like it breezes through last winter.

Gillian, The Greenspot in Brandon has it, and they were even in bloom. I'm not sure where their supplier is from, but they were gorgeous, and I'm sure they were timing it perfectly for Mother's Day. ;0) Hope you can find it in Winnipeg. It's a beautiful shade of red and I really like the shape of the flower too, and mine also came through winter with flying colours.

Mine sure didn't come thru with flying colours, lots of winterkill but it is showing new sprouts at the base. I maybe have mine located in a not so sheltered area.

I planted one in August last year. I was pretty lazy planting it; I put it in too high. But it came through with flying colours and is putting out new greenery.

Contrast that with my Lambert Closse, which died right down to the ground the last two years. But this year it FINALLY managed to keep some existing cane alive.

OOOOOH there isn't a dirty enough word... !@#&*$%... I went all the way to Schreimers greenhouse in Winnipeg and paid $20 for Emily Carr for my Mom, then the next day I was at Walmart right here in my town and they have it for $6!!!!!! I am so POed!! Anyway now if anyone's looking for it, Walmart is carrying it. >:0( >:0( >:0(

I saw that our local No Frills (Extra Foods affiliated) had them in too. That would piss me off too Gil!

Mine is coming up with lots of new shoots, whew, I thought it was a goner ;)

Mine is doing very well and came through winter with a plenty of live wood. This appears to be a rather good rose and look forward to what it does this summer.
