Lilies on Steriods
I was out in my lily garden planting today. I noticed that my bulbs have multiplied like crazy. A lot that were planted in the spring have divided and there are tons of babies coming. The ones that I planted last fall have divided like crazy. Where I planted 3 bulbs, I now have 5-7. And they are not even done popping their heads out. Even my one Oriental has babies popping up like crazy.
Plus you should see the stems on a few of them. Almost as big as 2 of my thumbs.
What the h*** is going on? I have never had lilies do this ever before. Was it all the moisture? Early snow cover?
They are planted in heavy clay based soil that I amended with tons of peat. Is it that?
Any ideas?
