I'm very excited about the romaine lettuce I'm growing. So far it's doing really well. Can it be cut off when we want some, like you can with leaf lettuce? Will it continue to grow, or would that "finish it off"?

Also, has anyone ever moved tomato plants a week after planting them? It turns out my neighbour's tree is going to shade my tomato plants. Would they really dislike it if I dug up a big bunch of their soil with them, and planted them in more sun?
