It is possible, if they were Breba figs (on last years wood) that they do not persist on those two varieties.

I'm in N. California, Vacaville, with climate like Sacramento. I have Black Jack and Desert King, both with brebas. The Desert King has a lot, about thumb sized, but I'm not sure they are growing.The Black Jack has only six, but they we growing nicely. Birds won't come after your fruit until they show color (mainly the darker colors). I had a tree start off with 17 brebas and only ripen one, actually this seems to be the norm for me. As Pitangadiego stated, some don't bring their brebas to fruition.

Nanelle, I worry too about figs not growing. I have learned that some put on a lot of size as they near the end of the ripening process. Both of the figs that have ripened so far this year (one mentioned above) put on half their size in the last week and a half or so. Be patient (not that I ever am LOL) they will grow.
