Ang, if they are the same spittlebugs that are discussed in the "eggs?" thread, all it took for me was to use the shower setting on the hose nozzle and it blew/washed them off.

Colleen, now that I have read through the "eggs" thread (I was thinking bird eggs!) YES that is the same thing!

I remember seeing these "spit spots" on plants when I was a kid growing up in Southern Ontario but then I was a kid and didn't really pay much attention beyond that they were "yucky"! LOL

The hose trick sounds good to me! I will try that later today (unless the rain beats me to watering tonight???)

I just came in the house from gardening, and I'm on the net looking for ways to get rid of the spit bugs this year...they seen to be doing very well in Nova Scotia this year! ;)

Anyway, I found from another site that 1) neem oil 2) Trounce are both organic and non-toxic to people and animals, and are the best ways to get rid of spit bugs. I'll be heading out to the Farmer Clem's tomorrow to get a few plants, so I'll ask them, too.

I'll let you guys know what I find out. :)

Wondering what you found out at Farmer Clem's about the spit bugs. I have some on the penstemon. I've been washing them off with water, but curious what to do with the NEEM oil.
