Hallooo!

It's been quite some time since I have posted here - life has just seemed to have gotten in the way of a lot of things! LOL

Anyhow, on my St. John's Wort, I have found *several* spots that look (to the best description) like someone "spit" on them. They are white and bubbly/foamy looking and wrap around the stems. I tried taking a pic, but my camera keeps focusing on the greens and the "spit spots" are just too blurred.

Anyone have ANY ideas??

Spittlebugs, its amazing what you forget from your childhood! I was fascinated by those when I was a kid, and tried to reproduce the spittle on a leaf. From reading the article, I now know that was doing it wrong.

Kim, I think (hope!) that you lack the requisite gluey gland. LOL!

I also forgot about spittlebugs until I got one in a rose order from the West Coast last year... I was like ewwwww what's that? Spit? Anyway it did no harm to the roses and didn't bring any friends.

Funny, some of the roses I got this year foamed for a week or so. I thought it was from transporting them. Maybe they had these bugs. Never seen anything like this before.

When I first read your response, I truly thought you were just being a smarty-pants calling them 'spittlebugs' in reference to my description. LOL
I did not even have to blast them with the hose, the shower setting seemed enough to wash them away. :)
