fig leaf curl? Please help

Hi,

I got a bare ( without leaves)white Genoa fig tree 3 months back from a nursery and as soon as it started getting leaves, the leaves have started to curl. It has been a over a month since the leaf curl was noticed and is still persistent. I got the tree in mid February '07.

I wonder if this is a fig mosaic disease? However, I have seen no signs of mottling/yellowish discoloration on the leaves as yet. The leaf growth is very slow as compared to my other fig tree( the black mission) that I purchased at the same time. I am worried will the fig mosaic follow the leaf curling?

I have been watering the plant very well and regularly...is the leaf curl because of too much moisture and decreased drainage? It has been raining a lot this side of town...though the temperatures have been low...but not below the 30s.( I live in CA).

I have searched the internet to solve this problem, but did not get any solution for "fig leaf curl". Please help.

The nursery has obliged me for an exchange of the tree...so I would like to know whether I should exchange the tree or not, although its heartbreaking since I have looked after this tree with a lot of care and it has established itself well in the ground.

Thanks
