I'm just so excited! Was out plant shopping yesterday and came across a clivia in bloom at a decent price at a local nursery. I've been lusting after one for ages and have never seen one for sale here so what can I say, I just had to have it! It sure is beautiful in bloom, lovely orange and yellow. It's outside in the shade of my front porch giving a jolt of color. I just had to share this with you guys, I knew you would understand the thrill!

Congratulations! You're right, they are a beautiful sight when in bloom. I have a baby one, so I won't get to see it in bloom for quite some time. But the foliage is attractive anyway. I picked it up at our local horticultural plant sale. It wasn't identified, but I knew I was getting something good, LOL.

Congratulations! I have two that are both big enough to flower. They are wonderful houseplants that smell like daffodils. (At least to me. :) ) Glad you found one for sale, I've seen them the odd time for sale at a nursery and they have all been about $65. I inherited mine from DH Great Grandmother. I was very glad I did when I saw my first one for sale and looked at the price. LOL Just remember, they like it dry and they also like being rootbound.

Am I correct that they like to be moister in the summer and drier for the winter months? What about fertilizer, and light requirements for the winter? Thanks for advice.
