Yes, their common name is called Windflower or Grecian Windflower. Just because they are called Windflower does not necessary mean that they are good for windy sites ;) they still need a good protective sheltered spot.

Since you're located in zone 3 and and they are considered a zone 4/5 plant, I would chance them by planting out normally in the fall and giving them a good covering of mulch, straw, peatmoss or leaves. Uncover ¾ of the mulch early spring.

Spring bulbs must be planted in the fall rather than in the spring because they require a long period of cool temperatures to spark their growth process that causes them to flower.

Go for it, you never know till you try, could be another mild winter for us ;)
