Onion Time

I just received my onion plants from Dixondale Farms on Sat..and had them in by Tuesday. I had the bed prepped on

Tue. and was beginning to wonder how I was going to plug in

200 onion plants "thought I ordered 100" I think they made a

mistake because I got purple onions too and know I did not

order them. Maybe they are just being nice since I have bought onion plants from them from them for 15 years or more. Well anyhow just as I was getting ready to make a self

inflicted back ache my two boys arrived with 2 friends. With 4

young dudes mid 20's I had my onions planted and I did not even break a sweat. I had to bark a few orders about compacting the soil and not loose laying the plants. They are already standing up tall and growing. Onions like water and Nitrogen and fertilizer is tied to the price of oil. Well, the price at the pump is down but it has not reached

the fertilizer price yet. I paid $12 for a 15 lb. bag of

29-1-4 fert. Ever since Timothy McVeigh blew up the Fed.

office bldg. in Okla. city Ammonium nitrate is not for sale

at a retail level anymore and that is what onions like.

Who would think onions would be a victium of terrorism ?
