I have the Minnesota Mock Orange in my flowerbed. It hasn't bloomed yet as it is still fairly young but I don't have any die back during the winters. Since you're warmer than me I would of thought they would do well for you.

I have the Blizzard Mock Orange - one in the front yard in a sunny location; one in the backyard in shade. Planted them just over a year ago - both bloomed this year, although the blooms were rather sparse.

Margaret, where did you get your Mock Orange? I haven't been able to find them around here and would love to have one.

Marcia - picked it up last year at Landale's. Had gone there looking for the Minnesota Snowflake (I think that's what it was) and they reommended Blizzard as being zone-hardy. So I got two!

Mine is a Blizzard and it has bloomed and grown beautifully in the past two years. We put it in 3 years ago in August. It has an east exposure with lots of sun until about 3 PM. This year, I've got to thin it and that's on my to do list in the next few days. It's got lots and lots of crossed over branches.

Here's an interesting article comparing the 'Blizzard' to the 'Snowflake' in different areas throughout Alberta. Seems like the 'Snowflake' doesn't bloom very often in Edmonton, whereas the 'Blizzard' is highly recommended. Interesting. I think we just lucked out buying the right one because we didn't know too much about what we were buying 3 years ago.

I took a picture of mine last week. It's grown so big in the last two years. It was only about 2 1/2' tall when we planted it. It's now about 6' at the tallest branch.

Well that means mine is definitely not a Blizzard, because it has very double flowers and I see yours is single Shauna. (But it looks great!)

I might be able to get a picture when I get home of the flowers, it's either finished or almost finished blooming now.

This is where I'm getting confused because it is the P. x virginalis 'Minnesota Snowflake' that has double flowers, according to my "A-Z" Encyclopedia. But this seems to be the one everyone is having trouble getting to bloom. Maybe, based on the above Alberta Ag. article, it is very microclimate sensitive.

I love the double flowers on yours, Gil and it is supposed to be a lot more fragrant than the single flowers. Good job!

What wonderful flowers! I know the smell is heavenly too. That's what I was hoping for when I planted mine. Thanks for the link too.

Now I'm wondering what I should do, leave them or replace them with Blizzard's? I doubt they would get enough sun behind the privacy screen my Nasty Neighbours put up. Its a shame because they would have been under my kitchen window.

I put mine in about 10 years ago, out in the open, [acreage], not sure anymore what species, by the looks it is like Shauna's...Blizzard??
