Although others may not agree, I have long recognized that pruning stimulates fruit production. It's funny how, after you did the clipping and got the fruit, you clipped again. More fruit after a second clipping only makes sense. Congratulations.

However, in your zone, you might not have time for the new fruit to ripen, and we agree that the additional late term fruit might pull a lot of the energy from the tree, lowering the quality of the first 40 figs. I'd remove the tiny new ones, but that is just my opinion. If you have 40 figs nearing ripeness, that's not so bad at all. Would be sad if they had less flavor due to the late-season ones.

my understanding is that there is a 'breba' crop from last year's growth and then a 'main' crop from this years growth. so it seems like you have both crops growing on your tree atm.

is your tree in ground or in a pot that you can bring inside and provide warmth and artificial lighting?

your breba crop should be close to being ripe if they started in May. if you're concerned, it wouldn't hurt to thin out some of the main crop.

If it did not have any fruits until May as per original poster,then all the figs are main crop,so the suggestion that Budbackist made is valid.
There is no Breba crop on that tree.
