Just my two cents.. but someone mentioned some wild flowers. I have a lovely pic of some wild pink ladyslippers here that I took about a month ago just 3 miles from my home. I am not sure how native they are to all our areas... but I know there are a few around here....
Just a thought. And they are very beautiful.
If anyone is interested... just let me know.

Ok, so weÂre all of the same mind that the wooden box of straggly petunias has to go. ;)
Therefore, letÂs see your proposal for an appropriate Far North garden photo that you would like to see up there instead. Make sure your photo is at a sensible size, the wooden box graphic is 300x206 pixels. Also make sure its your photo and not some photo from Google ;)

WeÂll all vote in a couple of weeks and make a proposal to the Suggestion and Comment forum for Tamara or Josh to approve or not. If by chance they donÂt go for a new graphic, oh well, at least we tried and spoke our opinion on that pitiful box of petunias. LOL.

I don't have a picture like this but I know some of you do. What about something that pops up in the spring when the snow is just melting around it and it is sparkling with snow and beads of water? Crocus, pulsatilla, daffodils, tulips, muscari, scilla . . . Doris, your Double Bloodroot??

OK well if I had to cast a vote for one picture that we currently have, that I have seen, I would vote for North53's picture from the Wildflower Trip, of the 3 Pulsatilla together. I think that was a beautiful picture. If North53 would let them use it that is.

But again, I don't know if these are native to all of us.

And if they're not, I think a nice shot of Delphiniums would be appropriate because it seems to be something that we all grow.

There, that's my vote. Perhaps Sharon should decide when a representative decision has been made, since she suggested it (and pretty much invented the Far North forum, LOL)

This isn't exactly a spring picture, but it's frosty just the same ;^) I think it kind of gives a sense of northern gardening trials and tribulations.

Thank you Northspruce for your vote for my picture of the prairie crocus. They certainly are well adapted plants for growing in the north. I love their fuzzy coats. I would be honored to allow my pic to be used.

However, I really don't mind the rustic box of flowers as it is. It's kind of whimsical.

Thanks everyone, glad you liked the picture. Sadly, that was taken last October 5th after a 10" dump. But there's got to be more frosty/snowy pictures out there. Isn't there? Come on guys, go thru those spring/fall photos!

I really am sorry for saying the S and F words, 'cause now I see on the forecast that they're only calling for a HIGH of 13C for Friday! Rats! I should have known better :(
Hopefully it's a typo error.

As for the picture, I guess it's totally up to the authorities if they'll even change it, but I would be thrilled if everyone wanted to have the rose picture. I still think there are people out there who are holding out on their pictures though ;^)

Laurie, which radio station or TV station was saying 13C? Boy, I sure hope that they are wrong!!!

On the internet the Environment Canada says 28C every day from now to the end of their forecast.

Brenda, it must have been a typo on the weathernetwork, because now they've changed it to 27C. Every now and again they get their wires crossed. Actually, a little cooler would be nice, but not 13 though.

Well, the FN forum is the Far North Forum, which is the message board we are on right now. And GW is Gardenweb, which the the collective of forums on several different gardening related subjects. GW is owned by a company called I-Village which maintains the website in exchange for us having to look at ads that they get paid to display. They have staff who do technical stuff to maintain the website, and also go around to make sure people aren't posting inappropriate stuff on the forums.

I forgot to add earlier, I like Laurie's rose too.

Doris, that was an awesome picture of your bloodroot! I ordered a root, but, sadly, it never did anything :(

Laurie, when you say your bloodroot never did anything, do you mean that the plant died? Maybe it just went dormant (it sometimes does, especially when the weather is hot and dry). Don't dig out the root until late next spring (they're not the earliest risers).

I had a martagon lily bulb that I started in a pot. Nothing grew all season; at the end of summer, I emptied out the pot and found, to my surprise, that the bulb had spent all summer growing roots but no foliage. I planted it, and it's been great ever since. I don't know if your bloodroot is doing the same thing, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Doris, I planted the root in a pot and nothing came up, not one leaf. I've stopped watering it.........maybe I shouldn't have?! I'll have to go and check if there's any signs of life, but I have my doubts.....

I just checked the bloodroot root, and it's discinagrated into nothing :(

In Tamara's last post, she said it may take a couple of weeks, shouldn't be too long now.

Yes, when Tamara emailed me, she said it could take a couple weeks or more, depending on when they do the maintenance.

I wrote them a short reminder note at the suggestion forum, it's been nearly a month now since we requested a change ;)

Yup, the picture was sent on July 25th. I'm thinking we must not be very high on the priority list :(

I did email Tamara again on Sept 18 to see if they had forgotten about it, but this is what she wrote back to me:

I just checked and it's still in the queue to be added. I'm sorry it's taking so long, but our tech team has been very busy -- but, I'm sure they will get to it soon.

Thanks Sharon. I'm glad someone other than me likes my pics too!LOL I must say that when you take a thousand pictures, the odds are good that you'll get a few good ones. It's amazing how many pictures you take when you first get a new camera. This year, I haven't taken even a quarter of what I took last year. Hmmmm, either the novelty of the new camera has worn off, or else I need more new plants to take pictures of...........???? ;^)
