blue celeste dropping figs

I have a blue celeste that is in a large pot. I root pruned last year but not this time around. It's approaching ripening time, and some of my figs have turned yellow and fallen off. I recall in previous years that they would turn yellowish before ripening but none of them have ripened yet. There are still qutie a few grene figs on the tree so I have some hope. But I'm wondering why they are dropping. The tree is getting plenty of water. Could it be because I did not root prune? I think I some of them dopped before ripening in previous years, but it has also been hotter than ususal.

My guesses are either failure to root prune or soil temperature. Can someone with more experience give their opinion?
