A bit of rose breeding ...

A few years back I had crossed 'Winnipeg Parks' with a floribunda rose called 'Glad Tidings', this was one of the resulting seedlings. It's alot like 'Winnipeg Parks', though the flowers are fuller and longer lasting. In good weather and bad, it has performed well. The last few winters I have not provided it with any protection. This tall growing yellow rose resulted by crossing two hardy Canadian varieties. Although the blooms are a bit on the small side, they repeat themselves and are very long lasting. I have repeated this cross, and again am hoping for good things!

Hey, way to go! You must have a great deal of patience to wait out that entire process.

Are they fragrant, too?

Now if you could breed a rose that will fluourish in my alkaline clay soil without going all chlorotic, you'll be my hero.

Hi pudge, actually the process is really rather quick! Seedlings can and often flower within three months of germination! It often surprises people to see tiny three inch seedlings putting forth their first blooms! You can have full grown plants in their second year.

They're beautiful Terry. Congratulations! I certainly didn't realize that roses could bloom so quickly.
Yes, you'll have to come up with some names for them.

Ooooo...they're gorgeous!! I covet that first one because I love WP; fuller and longer lasting flowers would definitely be a "Good Thing". Congratulations!!!
