I thought it was an annual, or is there an annual version of it? I've had that off and on for a few years - it has never come back or reseeded.

When I use to live in zone 8 I did grow it. It would selfseed everywhere and it did seem to come back every year. I have only seeded it this year in my yard and it is nowhere close to blooming. Hopefully it makes it through our winters. I did ask recently if anyone grew it and 1 person did say that it grew for them.

Marcia, William Dams have one called Linaria maroccana Fairy Bouquet, annual Toadflax, maybe thats the one you're thinking of?

Whatever you do don't ever plant Linaria vulgaris Yellow Toadflax, that one is crazy and I believe its on the noxious list. They have huge patch of this stuff growing into everything, conifers, flowerbeds, at the hospital grounds, very invasive.

No, to clarify, I said "I have had a plant... for many years" - a form of the present tense, meaning I currently have it too, LOL!
It's out in the open and unsheltered front yard, so pretty hardy, I guess. Hasn't seeded around, but that's probably due to the thick mulch out there.
Yes, toadflax or "butter and eggs" is on the noxious weed list - though kind of attractive, like some of them are.

I think that yellow toadflax must be what's growing in a big patch on part of what we refer to as a lawn. :) The bees like it, and i even mowed around part of it today because there were a few bees in it having a good time.

Sharon, i'm not sure what kind of linaria i have - i bought it, didn't start from seed - but i do know it's an annual. I should try it from seed, though, because it's a pretty plant.

JL Hudson sells both Linaria purpurea and 'Canon Went' seeds, both are very pretty.... hmmmm, choices, decision, what to do!

Here its not even winter and I'm already planning my seed list for 2006.
