Oh no, not the big F!

OMG I can not believe it is here already. Where abouts in AB are you. It was about 6 here this AM I do hope your garden survived.

Was a cool one this morning, though wasn't anywhere near frost where I live up in the hills north of Spruce Grove ... but, I know they were showing some pretty chilly temps to the west :(

Well, we've had several of them through the summer here, including two days last week and also this morning. Luckily,
didn't go much below 32 F.

OH darn!...is it H?....the F usually comes in the morning.

It was 7 last night and in the morning I bet it was near!
Haven't looked yet. Heard around Rocky Mountain House got it.

Well, you guessed it, the big F. I live just east of Black Diamond (south and west of Calgary)in the foothills. It was a pretty good one, even through sheets and frost clothes the tops of beans, tomatoes and zucchini got it. Thankfully it didn't kill the plants. It has not been my year. fighting deer and F. Did a big pick on the beans and got some for the freezer. Outside tomatoes are still a long way off so lets hope it was a one time thing. Will cover tonight and probably for the rest of the summer.

Hopefully we get another month at least....yea..I'm joking but we do earn it, don't we?

Alberta summers are SO short. It's like you guys have only three seasons. We're a bit better off in SK. No frost here since June 5th, but we got a massive hailstorm that pounded my squash, melons and uprooted my newly planted spinach.

Ziggro, where are you? Idaho? Wyoming? It must be really difficult to grow summer vegetables there without a greenhouse...

I'm in Montana, in a mountain valley. Not that high (4700 feet), but it's a real frost trap for some reason. It can be a challenge to try to garden here. Temp was 31 F this morning. The veggies that grow underground work the best (carrots, potatoes, beets, onions, etc.). But we do have peas, spinach, green beans and corn growing as well. I have the sprinkler on now, washing the frost off before the sun hits--that seems to counter a light frost. Hopefully, heavy frosts stay away for a few more weeks, or we'll have no corn and beans.
