Cutting back Delphiniums

My delphs were done flowering and looked putrid so I followed advice from another forum and cut them back to the ground. Didn't think they could possibly grow back, but OMG they have little shoots coming up all over the place!

Anyway, I had been planning to split and move them, so I dug em up last night and did so... watered them well in their new homes, then thought UH OH was that dumb? I didn't do much root damage because I took them in big chunks with lots of soil, but will they be too stressed trying to grow back and settle into a new spot at the same time? I don't care if they don't bloom again this year, as long as I didn't kill them!
